X. Final Stages

You will be finishing the process of turning your transcript into an oral history narrative.  Your final draft will include the following:


Title

(taken from a line in your interview, like a golden line or phrase)

Person’s name & place of origin

(if they want to use only their first name or if they want to be anonymous, that’s fine)

Description

(you’ll describe the person in one or two sentences)

Oral history text

(this will be in paragraphs and sentences with standard English spelling and punctuation but writing out the words they spoke)

Interviewed by

(here’s where you’ll put your full name)

Title: Read through your oral history.  See if there’s a line, word or phrase that really sticks out, really seems important, or is a beautiful phrase that has some meaning.  Then decide if you think these words could make a good title for your oral history.  Don’t be boring, here! Write down a few options below:

Name, Place of Origin:  If your interviewee wants to be anonymous, write Anonymous and then Girl, Boy, Woman, Man, etc.  If the person is cool with you using his/her name, write that.  Then write the city and country or state from which that person originated. If you just want the country or state, that’s fine.

What are some things you really notice about this person when you are with him/her?

What was this person wearing when you interviewed him/her?  How did he/she look?

Where did you conduct your interview?  What did it look like?

What is this person’s personality like?  What words do you think of to describe him/her?

Write description: From the answers you wrote, pick the most interesting items and turn the answers into one or two sentences describing the person.
