The Voice of
Witness series
allows those
most affected
by contemporary
social injustice
to speak for
themselves.
Using oral history
as its foundation,
Voice of Witness
seeks to illustrate
human rights
crises through
the voices of
the victims.
These books
will be designed
for readers
of all levels—from
high school
and college
students to
policymakers—interested
in a reality-based
understanding
of ongoing injustices
in the United
States and around
the world.
So far, Voice of Witness has produced two books—Surviving Justice: America's Wrongfully Convicted and Exonerated and Voices from the Storm: The People of New Orleans on Hurricane Katrina and Its Aftermath. A third book will be released in the fall of 2007.
We are also currently working on developing materials for teachers interested in using the book in the classroom. Companion lesson plans and multimedia accompaniments are now being created. Please click on "Info for Teachers" for more.
Voice of Witness is a non-profit member of the Intersection Incubator. See below for more details.
